Thanks to the help of her loving family, friends, strangers and even former and current congressmen, Katie Malone is back in the United States. The 29-year-old was in a tragic parasailing accident when celebrating her birthday in Mexico. A cord broke mid flight sending Malone hundreds of feet into the air for 45 long minutes before crash landing, according to KGTV. That wasn't the end of the ordeal. Malone suffered a forehead cut, collapsed lung, bleeding into the lung and fractures to her pelvis, skull, four ribs and face.
The next task was asking for help from anyone who might have connections to a plane that could bring her home to receive treatment for her pituitary gland which Mexican doctors could no longer treat. Their prayers were answered due to the kindness of the many donations the family received. Additionally, former California Rep. Duncan Hunter and his son current California congressman Duncan D. Hunter contacted the Mexican embassy and helped to put up money to book an AirLink ambulance, along with the help of several other organizations.
We're hoping Katie makes a full recovery now back in San Diego!
