Home DNA tests from companies like Ancestry and 23andMe have become super prevalent in our modern world. While they can help us figure out our true ethnic backgrounds, what countries we're really from, food sensitivities and more, they can also serve a bigger purpose. Last year, we shared on RTM the story of Esther Blue, our former digital producer who found her biological dad through the services of 23andMe, and now Good Morning America has another touching first-time meeting for your viewing pleasure.

Sabrina Payne took a DNA test with her paternal grandmother, but they were shocked when they got the results back and found that they weren't actually related. That also meant that the man who raised Payne was not her biological father. In shock, she joined a Facebook support group, and even more shockingly, the group helped her connect with her actual biological dad, Duane Kellems. Their emotional first encounter will bring a tear to your eye!

DNA Test Leads Woman To Biological Dad

This last year has been a big one for RightThisMinute's own Esther Blue. Not only has her family grown by two adorable twins, she found her biological father! It all began with a simple question about her genetics—was she really Persian like her mom insisted? So, Esther spit in a cup and sent it to 23andMe for DNA genetic testing and analysis. Though the results confirmed her Middle-Eastern heritage, the real surprise came when 23andMe matched her to an unknown cousin living not far away in Arizona.  As they started talking, Esther made a tremendous discovery—her biological father is alive, lives in California, and doesn't even know she exists! After much soul-searching, she reaches out to dad Farhad and plans an emotional reunion in Arizona. Keep watching for the joyful moment father and daughter meet for the first time. Dad Entertains Son Battling Leukemia

Dad Entertains Son Battling Leukemia

It's always difficult to understand why people, especially children, have to deal with cancer. Kennith "Clutch" Thomas' 15-month-old son Kristian was recently in the hospital for 32 days after being diagnosed with leukemia. Kristian was born with Down syndrome and a blood disorder, and doctors had previously told the family he could develop leukemia at any point, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. After finding out that Kristian could finally go home from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, dance instructor Kennith wanted to celebrate. Taking inspiration from his son's battle and singer Ciara, Kennith set out to cheer up and entertain Kristian to the tune of Ciara's new song "Level Up."  Kennith and wife Josilyne also coincidentally have a dance studio named "The Level Brand."   When you wake up to your sons number LEVELS UP!! And we get to go home for a few days as he is killing CANCER!! TAG @ciara this song right on time #GODSPLAN #fightkristian #fightcancer #FIGHTLEUKEMIA #locking #dance #love #son #fatherandson #levelupchallenge A post shared by Kenny Clutch (@kennyclutch_) on   Jul 21, 2018 at 9:28am PDT The story even got the attention of Ciara herself! The song is a dance and personal challenge, asking those taking part to think of three ways to better themselves in life. Kristian has already proved himself to be a warrior though, and we are completely inspired by the strength of the entire family!   My can’t take it watching this proud Father @KennyClutch_ dancing doing the #LevelUpChallenge because his baby’s numbers were up. God is so good! We’re dancing for you too angel! Let’s #LevelUp against Cancer together! A post shared by Ciara (@ciara) on Jul 22, 2018 at 11:19am PDT View Now

Daddy-Daughter Dance In Honor Of Last Day Of Chemo

Please get the tissues! We're tearing up watching this adorable video and hearing the emotional story behind it. On Aug. 2, 2-year-old Phoenix Thompson was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and required immediate aggressive chemotherapy. Since then, parents Christina and Brett have been going back and forth from their home to the hospital to care for their other four children. On Phoenix's last day of her first round of chemo, Brett surprised her with a princess dress and a special daddy-daughter dance. The touching moment happened about a week ago but has since gone viral, and we can definitely see why. Phoenix, nicknamed Phee, also got a visit from singer Jason Mraz. Although these videos have been happy moments for Phee and family, it's very hard to believe a 2-year-old could be going through such a hard battle with cancer. Mom-To-Be Hears Late Father's Voice During Gender Reveal

Mom-To-Be Hears Late Father's Voice During Gender Reveal

We've seen all types of gender reveals here at RTM, but this may be one of the most sentimental ones. Ana's mother Jennifer Jones-Prothro is pregnant and wasn't planning on finding out the gender of the new baby unless her husband really put something creative together. It turns out, her loving hubby James went above and beyond, piecing together voice recordings of Jennifer's late father Charlie revealing it was a girl. Charlie passed away a year ago and always liked to be surprised by learning the gender of Jennifer's children, so this idea was especially poignant, according to CNN. my mom is pregnant and didn’t want to know the gender unless my dad found a creative way of letting her know... so he put together clips of my granddad’s voice (who passed away a year ago) to announce it to her :’) pic.twitter.com/wYV2GMDHeW — ana (@anaxyoung) August 23, 2018 View Now
