Donning rainbow suspenders, reporter James Kirchick shook up the Russian airwaves when he refused to discuss Bradley Manning, instead speaking about the Russian government's anti-gay laws. Live on air, Kirchick said "How you can call yourself a journalist and how you can go to sleep at night, I find that abominable. You should be ashamed of yourself. Everyone who works for this network should be ashamed of yourself," referring to employees of RT, which is funded by the Russian government. The Russian government recently passed a law that bans the public discussion of gay rights and relationships in the presence of children. Kirchick took to Twitter after hijacking the Russian newscast, saying "True fact: @RT_com just called taxi company that took me to studio to drop me off on the side of the highway on way to Stockholm airport." He later tweeted that the company brought him safely to the airport anyway.
