Animals can be some of the biggest comforts to us. After Nadine Mastro and her friends were caught up in the Las Vegas massacre last month, the survivor didn't know who or what to turn to. Luckily, her two cats and dogs immediately surrounded her with attention and love. The loyal pets will do anything to make their owner smile, and in return, Nadine is starting her long healing process.

The dog's name is Rescue, and he has certainly helped to rescue both Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes. The two were newlyweds in April 2013 when they both lost their left legs below the knee during the Boston Marathon bombing. While holed up at the hospital recovering for months, Jessica met Rescue, a dog that had medical conditions of his own. The two became fast friends, and the couple has even written a best-selling children's book about Jessica's relationship with Boston.
