What if a piece of clothing could help develop your child's brain? That's the concept behind "Talking Is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing." It launched in Oakland and aims to extend a child's vocabulary and knowledge of the world before the age of 3. A clothing line designed by GS&P will be given to new parents so they have topics to talk about while getting dressed or taking a bath. Learn more about this awesome campaign here

Back-To-School Lunches Never Looked So Yummy

Back-To-School Lunches Never Looked So Yummy

It's the most wonderful time of the year! We're not talking about Christmas, but Back-To-School season. Before you celebrate your newfound freedom, RightThisMinute's resident how-to genius Jessica Hord has a wonderful set of themed lunches for your kids' first school lunches of the year. Make a fun, stylish statement your kids will love and fill their tummies with these three yummy "Frozen", Sea and "Star Wars"-inspired lunches!   "Frozen"-Themed Lunch You'll Need: -- Any sandwich bread (darker breads contrast nicely with the mozzarella) -- Mozzarella cheese (block or sandwich slices) -- Cream cheese -- Black olives -- Baby carrots -- Candy eyes -- Pretzel sticks -- Blueberry yogurt -- Blue and white sprinkles -- Cheez-It Scrabble Junior crackers   Instructions: 1. Start by cutting Olaf's body from mozzarella. (Looking at a photo of Olaf will help.)  2. Secure three main pieces of Olaf's body to top of bread with cream cheese. 3. Cut "coal" buttons, mouth, and eyebrows from black olives and secure to Olaf's body using cream cheese. 4. For Olaf's nose, cut a small chunk from a baby carrot and secure to Olaf's face with cream cheese. 5. Cut a tiny rectangular piece of mozzarella for Olaf's teeth and secure with cream cheese. 6. Secure two candy eyes to Olaf's face with cream cheese. 7. Poke two pretzel sticks into the bread on either side of Olaf for his arms. 8. Poke 3 halved pretzel sticks into the bread above Olaf's head for his "hair". 9. Surround sandwich with a few baby carrots. 10. Pour blueberry yogurt into a container and top with blue and white sprinkles. 11. Put more pretzel sticks into a container and top with Cheez-Its, spelling "OLAF". You're done! Inspired by: Mom Endeavors   Sea-Themed Lunch You'll Need: -- Cookie cutter[s] -- Sandwich bread -- Peanut butter -- Jelly -- Candy eyes -- Cream cheese -- Baby carrots -- Goldfish crackers -- Blueberries -- Strawberries    Instructions: 1. Use cookie cutter[s] of choice to cut into slices of bread.  2. Dress sandwich as normal and top with candy eyes, using cream cheese to secure. 3. Add Goldfish crackers as a side. 4. To make a squid, put blueberries into a container and "fan" one strawberry and cut two grooves into the side of another strawberry. Put the two together on top of the blueberries and press one candy eye into the grooved strawberry. You're done! Inspired by: One Crafty Thing   "Star Wars"-Themed Lunch You'll Need: -- Dried mango slices  -- Sandwich bread -- White cheese slices (any white cheese will work—think havarti, provolone, mozzarella, etc.)  -- Cheddar cheese slices -- Raisins -- Cream cheese -- Deli meat -- Cheez-It Star Wars crackers -- Boiled egg -- Black food-safe marker    Instructions: 1. To make BB-8, use a circle cookie cutter or large, round glass to punch out a large circle for the body out of the bread. Do the same with a smaller cutter and cut in half. Cut out identical shapes of white cheese. 2. Put bread pieces down into a container and top with meat and then top with slices of white cheese. 3. Cut facial and body features from cheddar cheese slices and secure to white cheese with cream cheese. 4. Secure one whole raisin to face with cream cheese and a piece of a raisin for the smaller facial features. 5. Put crackers into one container. 6. Put raisins into another container and top with boiled egg you've drawn a stormtrooper face on. You're done! Inspired by: Lunchbox Dad   View Now
