Sometimes it's the things police officers do when they're not on duty that matters the most.
Take Officer Joseph Marte of the San Francisco Police Department, for example. Officer Marte learned that 5-year-old Colten "Julken" Guerra of Brentwood, Calif., was getting ready for cancer treatment, so he spent some time on an off day to pay the boy a visit. What happened after that couldn't have been predicted: the two bonded over dance.
Colten was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer in February. But even at such a young age, the Incredible Hulk-loving boy wasn't going to let cancer keep his spirits down. He was determined to Hulk-smash cancer.
Keeping his spirits up by keeping his mind away from cancer was important, too. Along with loving The Incredible Hulk, Colten is also a breakdancing fanatic. One of Marte's fellow officers showed the boy a video of Marte busting out some dance moves at the end of one of his shifts and right away, Colten challenged Officer Marte to a dance competition. Colten caught the action here:
Colten is now receiving radiation and is in isolation. This comes at a important time, as September is Child Cancer Awareness Month. You can learn more about Colten and his courageous battle at teamhulken.org.
Colten is even supporting his buddy, "Smilin'" Rylan, as shown this inspirational video.
