The Fate Of The Furious: ★★
The quick review: If you liked the previous seven in the series, you'll probably like this one.
Now, the little bit longer review. If spectacular action sequences which don't have to be believable, just enjoyable are your thing. Then there's something to like in this film. Moreover, if you're a fan of Academy Award winners Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron or the stalwart Kurt Russell. There's something there for you too. However, they along with Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood aren't given much to do except repeat some half-funny one-liners and walk away beautifully from car chases, even if they roll over a few times.
The film opens with Diesel on his honeymoon with Rodriguez in Cuba, settling a beef with a car chase. But soon after getting an offer from a super cyber villain (Theron) that's a little too tough to pass up. Soon he's going rogue and the rest of the team wrestles with stopping him, but hopefully not permanently. If you can get over the concept that a bunch of car thieves are the only thing between you and nuclear annihilation, you may find this entertaining. However, someone racing a supercar over ice to beat a nuclear sub was a bridge jump too far for this critic. View Now
