While fishermen and others may think they are being nice by giving pelicans their leftover fish scraps after a day of fishing, they are actually causing a lot more harm than good. Many of the scraps being given to the birds are much larger than the fish they would normally eat, and because most of the fish have already been filleted, the exposed bones are causing the pelicans to choke. The Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was recently struck by lightning, and it was all caught on film. The city plans to restore one of the statue's fingers that was severed by the lightning. The statue wasn't the only thing to be hit by a bolt during the same storm in the area, as a house's roof was hit and once again, caught on tape.
