You can hear the screams and see the panic that ensued when the up escalator abruptly changed directions and started going back down at the Exchange Place PATH station in Jersey City on Monday morning. Several commuters suffered cuts, scrapes and bruises as many decided to jump off the escalator mid-ride, while others got caught in a stampede at the base of the escalator.
