Isaac pounded parts of the Gulf Coast Wednesday with brutal winds and rains. The storm made landfall in southeast Louisiana's Plaquemines Parish Tuesday night. It's wreaking havoc across the state and water driven by Isaac has overcome some levees in Louisiana. Authorities say Isaac has weakened, but it's still hurricane strength, and causing widespread flooding.

The flood gates in New Orleans' were closed Tuesday morning for the first time since they were built after Hurricane Katrina seven years ago. The Army Corps of Engineers shut down the inner harbor canal to protect against rising water and anticipated storm surge from incoming Hurricane Isaac. The gates are part of a one-point-eight mile barrier designed to protect New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish. A KTLA News helicopter had to make an emergency landing after another news station's helicopter saw smoke coming from the engine. The CBS Los Angeles Helicopter got the whole thing on tape, and the KTLA helicopter eventually landed in a parking lot. The LAFD says a crack in the engine caused a oil leak which caused the emergency landing. Nobody was injured from the incident, but the helicopter is still being worked on. View Now
