Bystanders were understandably confused when they saw a van ramming into the side of another car. What became clear later was that the van driver was trying to stop two thieves from fleeing the scene. The suspects had attempted to steal tools from the van, only to be chased off by the van driver. Graham Underwood knew his grandfather had left him some momentos from his time serving in World War I, but he had never bothered to look into it until just a few weeks ago. While Fred Deighton had never fully talked about his war experiences with his family, he left a box of letters, photographs and more in a trunk for them when he passed away in 1976.
