Time was of the essence in these rescues in Ukraine. First, emergency workers rush to a local pond in Volochysk where passersby had spotted a boy stuck in icy waters. He had been walking on the frozen pond with another boy. About 65 feet from shore, the ice broke beneath them, resulting in an icy dunk. The second boy was able to get out, leaving the first behind. Luckily, State Emergency Services (SES) were able to save him.
Our next SES rescue took place in Kirovohrad Oblast. Again, a passersby raised the alert of three fishermen that had fallen through the ice. Members of the fire brigade worked quickly to pull the men to safety and they were transported to the hospital for medical care.
