When she was 9 years old, Shaunta-Maé Alexander began going to the hospital on a regular basis to deal with constant pain, malnutrition, nausea and vomiting. It wasn’t until years later in 2004 that she was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. After years of trying different treatment methods, including chemotherapy, her Crohn’s Disease went into remission.
However, in January she got the news that it had once again returned. But Shaunta-Maé is a fighter! So she decided to cut the locs she had been growing for 12 years as she got ready for this new fight. Crohn’s Disease doesn’t have a chance against Shaunta-Maé!
