Gayle On Film: 'Belfast' 02:14
Belfast
A beautifully filmed narrative based on director Kenneth Branagh's experiences as a child in Ireland. For a film based in Ireland in 1969 — during the Troubles — it is a warm, affectionate look at life for one little boy, Buddy (Jude Hill) and his family. Top notch performances all around from Jamie Dornan and Caitriona Balfe as parents who must decide if staying in the close knit neighborhood should move to England away from the violence of the times. Of course, Judi Dench and Ciaran Hands are wonderfully rock solid as grandparents who recognize the realities of the life they face, much more than the younger generation.
