Zach Sobiech was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (a cancerous bone tumor which develops in children) in November 2009. After several surgeries and months of chemotherapy, Zach learned the cancer had spread to his lungs and pelvis- there were no effective treatments left. Faced with only months left to live, Zach turned to music to help cope. His beautiful song, Clouds, is now available for purchase on iTunes- all proceeds benefit the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund, which aims to fund research for the cancer that is taking Zach's life, in hopes that kids diagnosed tomorrow will have a better chance for a cure. On Monday, Sobiech passed away. "With heavy hearts" the Children's Cancer Research Fund announced the news on its website, writing, "Zach was at home and at peace with those he loved most. Zach's life ended just as he lived, embraced by the love of his family, friends, grace and music."
