To retaliate, the residents threw firecrackers at the poor creature in an attempt to scare it off. Eventually, it wandered away. Over at Oldonyiro Community Conservancy in Kenya, three helpless elephants were trapped in mud and couldn't get out on their own. Rescuers hauled each elephant out of the mud with a tractor.
