Community Raises Funds To Help Homeless Man After Saving Another's Life

On August 7, 2017, George Dakin Jr. collapsed from a heart attack while walking to a ferry terminal in Massachusetts to meet his wife Gerry. Mark and Linda, employees at the nearby CHAMP House, rush to perform CPR. That's when Austin Davis walks over to relieve Linda as she was noticeably low on energy. Austin continues CPR on George until the paramedics arrive — his heart stopped for 28 minutes. It is because of the efforts of Mark, Linda, and Austin that George is still alive. Doctors said he had a 100 percent blockage of his LAD artery, otherwise known as the "Widow Maker." Since this miracle, Austin has received recognition and immense thanks. Austin is a resident of the CHAMP house, an organization that provides transitional housing to homeless individuals. When George and Gerry learned of this, they felt a need to give back to Austin — which is why their family started a GoFundMe for him. Video via GoFundMe Studios View Now
