A common nightmare became a reality for some folks in Indonesia when the power went out while they were in between floors on the elevator. Luckily, volunteer firefighters were quick to pry the doors open and pull out each resident, including a baby, one by one. The entire rescue only took half an hour and no injuries were reported.
In Brazil, a 10-year-old girl was helping sweep her home's backyard when she stepped on a cistern lid and fell about 50 feet down. Firefighters used a rope and pulley system to repel down and rescue the girl, who was miraculously uninjured. Thank goodness for great firefighters around the world!
