Just about anyone who has seen BBC's "Planet Earth" has walked away stating that it has some of the most gorgeous cinematography of any nature documentary ever filmed. The remarkable filming techniques allow viewers to get up close and personal with wildlife in a way unlike any other.

But how do the series' production crew get all of that incredible video footage? To answer that question, Vox has just released the first of three parts documenting how this series came to be and what exactly goes on behind-the-scenes.
