One of history’s biggest habitat recovery projects has proved to be a success. Due to hunting and other human-related factors, the number of lions in Mozambique has lowered dramatically over the years. The 24 lions conservation project seeks to increase the number of lions in the area, and began by relocating 24 healthy ones from South Africa to Mozambique in 2018.
