Developed over the last 15 years, the designer, Dr. Lawrence Rome, was inspired by the U.S. special operations forces in Afghanistan having to carry heavy packs.

An earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit the Indonesian city of Palu this weekend, resulting in widespread destruction and hundreds of casualties. The massive waves measuring up to six meters (nearly 20 feet) brought down buildings and homes, took out power lines and flooded the streets. Hundreds of others were injured in what became the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, according to ABC News. A pear tree in a front yard had begun to die, so the owner called his brother and his family in to help cut it down. Even with their combined efforts, and the help of a neighbor, the tree split in two directions as it fell and one side landed on the house. Luckily, the only thing that was damaged on the house was the gutter. Unfortunately, they also lost some doughnuts in the disaster.
