A raccoon that went dumpster diving found a whole "smorgasbord" of frozen pizza boxes and empty beer cans, but it also found itself stuck in the trash. The poster of today's Daily Pet luckily came to the rescue, and with the help of a strategically placed wooden plank, this raccoon was free to run back to the forest. Apparently, cats have a thing for climbing behind walls. In the first video, a kitten who had been stuck behind a wall of a gas station is rescued with hopes of being adopted. Then, a cat owner awakes to some strange noises in the night, and discovers his cat in an unusual place.
A standard traffic violation becomes a major felony in a matter of minutes when the driver of the vehicle begins to shoot at the police chasing him. Even after the driver crashes off the side of the road, he and his passenger get out and continue shooting at police officers, who eventually got the two in custody.
It's awesome to teach your kids to do things like ski at a young age, but if you're going to take them out on a crowded slope, you should expect that they might get knocked down a time or two. When a snowboarder tries to avoid taking out one young skier, he ends up smashing into another. Although he immediately checks on the boy he has knocked over, the boy's dad can't quite control himself, like he tells the snowboarder to do.
A Thanksgiving night house fire in Louisiana forced a police unit to save five children from the flames without protective gear. After some confusion and some minor injuries, the cops were able to collect all five kids from the house and get them to safety. These officers are real heroes and their awesome actions were all caught on tape.

The Humane Society of the United States saved several dogs from an alleged puppy mill in North Carolina. One of the poor pups found in a cage was paralyzed and scared. Megan Bliss eventually adopted the dog and arranged for him to have a wheel-cart attachment. The appropriately-named Ricky Bobby can now race with the quickest barkers on the block. When Pete of the AridersLife YouTube Channel went out for a cruise on his bike, he stumbled upon a young blue-tongued lizard. Noticing that the little guy had quite a few ticks attached to him, the rider decided to take him home to clean him up before he set him free.
A dolphin in Australia put itself in harm's way while swimming around a cray pot. This modern-day Flipper was stuck to the rope of the pot, which is illegal in the marine reserve waters that the animal was swimming in. A group of water skiers found the dolphin while training for a competition and set him free. The skiers reported the pot to wildlife officials, so that it would be removed from the waters. This vigilante dolphin may have saved the lives of several hundred crayfish and perhaps even others of his kind.
A UPS worker was not operating up to the company or their clients' standards and was caught on tape in Silver Springs, Maryland. The worker showed little regard for the packages that he was unloading as he got ready to make deliveries. We reached out to UPS and the company emphasized that this is not how they train their employees to handle packages.
A once-crippled and malnourished goat that was found in a massive hoarding situation is back on her feet. Hazel's inability to walk was brought on by a lack of strength due to limited feeding. The Humane Society of the United States has taken her in and now she is back to prancing around her new barn.
Every now and then, we hear about an awesome police rescue. Well this time, some precious cargo was returned to a little girl in one of the cooler moves by a cop that you will ever see. Evansville Police Sgt. Cullum found a teddy bear in the middle of the road, but was able to return it to its rightful owner just minutes later. Teddy Ruxpin, Paddington Bear and Winnie the Pooh all approve of this feel-good story.
If you are a speed rider, not even a dangerous avalanche can throw you off your path. As soon as this speed rider sees trouble in the form of fast-spreading cracks in the snow, all he has to do is utilize his wings, and glide ride over the top of the dangers below.

Most videos that we have seen of avalanches involve skiers being trapped in them. This avalanche video is a little different, because it is taken by a man in the town that the avalanche is currently falling over. The man and his friends hang out until the very last minute when the snow gets a little too close for comfort.

Two teenage boys got into some pretty serious trouble when their boat began taking on water while out in Currituck Sound, North Carolina. Looking for a way out of the water and onto higher ground, the boys climbed to the top of a navigation platform, where Coast Guard officials were eventually able to snatch them up.
A lake swimmer needed to be rescued in waste-high water in Australia. The rescue was caught on tape and apparently this swimmer needed to be airlifted in order to be saved. What would you do for a free helicopter ride?
Skydiver Eloy Cruz was lucky to recover with only a few injuries after this rough landing. Cruz says that issues arose because of "bad swooping" and wind. In the video, you can see just how hard he hits, when his body bounces off the ground after the initial landing.

Marc Wells and his oldest daughter Josie were the only ones at home in Washington, Illinois when the fast-moving storm system that swept the Midwest Sunday came through their town. In this horrifying footage you can hear Wells and his daughter brace themselves for what's about to come, and scream for their lives as a tornado sweeps over their street. After the tornado passes, you can hear Wells say, "All the neighbors' houses are gone!" Reports say Washington, Illinois was among the hardest hit towns, and was partially uprooted by the EF4 tornado. Wells posted on his Facebook page that they were not injured in the storm, and luckily his wife and other daughters were out of town. Nearly 1,500 homes have been destroyed in the Midwest since the powerful tornado outbreak began.
When a woman refused to let a man with a knife hijack her car, he moved to the next closest vehicle... a school bus carrying 11 children. Recently released dash cam video shows the police chase, which lasted about 20 minutes. Eventually, the man pulled over and let the children out before being arrested. He now faces 16 felony charges.
These baby otters have been orphaned, but their time without a mom lasted only a short while, as a lady has adopted them in the Philippines. The pups have been cared for by humans for nearly two months, and once they are grown, they will be released back into the wild.

When a homeowner decided to attempt a DIY roofing project, he didn't realize that he was actually causing himself more work. That's because once the homeowner sealed a part of his roof, he also inadvertently trapped a raccoon inside. Luckily, Gates Wildlife Control was able to cut open the roof and pull out the frightened raccoon before it was too late.
Police were forced into an altercation with a suspect who resisted arrest in San Francisco. A protest is scheduled by the city of San Francisco in regards to the measures that law enforcement took to apprehend the lawbreaker. The prosecutor's office has dropped the charges against the bicyclist pending an investigation.
This Boston coyote got stuck in the foundation of a construction site, so naturally you'd assume this is the premise of a Looney Tunes episode. However, in reality, the coyote needed to be freed before he could have any new encounters with a road runner. Beep! Beep!
A nonprofit in Idaho is looking to press charges against a guy that broke off and stole a piece of a very important statue. The jerk in question took off a stained glass butterfly from the statue, which is worth $2,500 and even more to the nonprofit. The butterfly has been stolen from the statue twice in the last year.
First, rescuers free two very large sea turtles that were tangled up with a buoy. Then, a tiny kitty is rescued from the top of a very tall tree.
5-year-old Miles is a superhero in many ways. As he has already fought leukemia, and is currently in remission, he also wants to fight crime and bad guys. The Make-A-Wish foundation wanted his dream of being Batkid to come true, so they have organized a whole day of events just for Miles to fight crime, save the day, and have a whole lot of fun. A photographer in the Cataloochee Valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was the subject of persistent elk interest. This young elk bull was perhaps only trying to get the photographer off of the road where he was sitting, using firm headbutts to push the man out of harm's way, or maybe he was attempting to stir up some trouble. Either way, it must have been a fascinating, yet terrifying experience.
Update: The elk featured in this video has sadly been euthanized. Officials deemed that the elk had grown too accustomed to humans after being fed frequently by park-goers. It was felt that the bold behavior exhibited by the elk was too risky, and this is an unfortunate example of how wrongly feeding wildlife is dangerous for both humans and animals alike.
When an officer pulled over a man for speeding, he noticed something in the man's lap and grabbed onto the door of the vehicle. As the man tried to flee, the officer clung to the door before firing two shots. Although both the man and officer survived, multiple charges have been filed, for not only resisting arrest, but for also having possession of meth and a gun. The man faces up to 35 years in jail.
When a homeowner noticed a "lethargic" sea turtle in a canal behind their home, they knew she needed help. FWC arrived on the scene shortly after the turtle was found, and noticed that she was covered in barnacles and missing a front flipper. The rescuers pulled her aboard a boat to bring her to the Miami Seaquarium, and believe that she will survive with a little rehab.
This veterinarian earns his street cred, when he comes across a buck tangled in the antlers of another buck... who also happens to be in a river. Using a saw and a whole lot of caution, this vet and his son were able to free the living buck before he was too tired to keep his head above water.
