Hear from the Two Fisherman that Rescued a Whale in Alaska

RightThisMinute Moment for 11-04-13

RightThisMinute was first to bring you an amazing whale rescue in Alaska. Now hear from the fisherman that saved the Orca. Jason Vonick and Nick Segal splashed water on the back and fins of this whale trying to keep it cool and calm. They found the Orca trapped on the rocks in Klakas Inlet in Alaska. Two whales swam nearby keeping an eye on their stuck friend. With the tide coming in and the water rising there was a real fear the whale might drown without being able to keep its blowhole above water. After roughly four hours, Jason and Nick decided to use their boat oars as levers to push the whale off the rocks and back into the water. They believe the whale was chasing a seal when it got stuck on the rocks.

The Epic Sacrifice Behind This Flood Rescue Is Heartbreaking

The same weather patterns that bring drought to the U.S. drench Asia. But while we can conserve water, some of the world's most unfortunate people drown in violent, unstoppable monsoon flooding each year. Our hearts go out to this likely-widowed elderly Chinese woman, whom rescuers found neck-deep in floodwaters tied to a tree. The catch? The DIY ropes were her husband's clothes, which he'd tied just before he was swept away in the ultimate act of love. Nobody needed to sacrifice themselves for these two Indian fishermen in the second video, but their 16-hour feat of endurance is truly astonishing. View Now

You Don't Want To Wake Up Next To This Fur Ball

One of the awesome things about camping is the wildlife. Sometimes it'll be rabbits around camp, other times squirrels or deer. We've even seen elk on the move some early mornings in the forest! Even though bears get a bad rap, David Weale's early morning meditation in a Vancouver forest was thankfully only interrupted by a curious one with a "thing" for smoothies. View Now

Eagle-Eyed Shopper Rips Apart ATM Skimming Scheme
