How-To Make Decadent Salty & Sweet Chocolate Covered Almonds

Some people joke that the word desserts is just stressed spelled backwards and there is no better time to indulge than when you've had a hard day or week. RightThisMinute's How-To Guru Jessica Hord has an easy way to make salty and sweet decadent chocolate covered almonds.  You'll Need: -- 6 ounces bittersweet or semi-sweet high-quality chocolate -- 1 and 1/2 cups whole, raw, unsalted almonds -- Sea salt -- Turbinado sugar Instructions: 1. Melt chocolate in double boiler. When melted, stir almonds into chocolate. 2. Once you've coated all the almonds, use a fork to lift almonds out of chocolate and place on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat with remaining almonds. (If you'd like clusters, scoop almonds out of chocolate and smooth across baking sheet.) 3. Sprinkle almonds with sea salt and turbinado sugar. 4. Put chocolate in the refrigerator for about five minutes to set completely. Once set, enjoy! You're done. (If you want clusters, you'll need to break the almonds up.) Here’s How to Bake That Famous ‘Matilda’ Inspired Cake

Here’s How to Bake That Famous ‘Matilda’ Inspired Cake

We all remember that famous chocolate cake scene in “Matilda” when Trunchbull orders Bruce Bogtrotter to eat a massive chocolate cake in front of the entire school. Well, as nauseating as it was, I think most people can agree that the cake didn’t look all that bad. In fact, it looked pretty delicious. Well, Delish is showing us just how easy it is to make that chocolatey, rich goodness and it looks phenomenal. Here’s how: 1. Bake the Cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour the bottom and sides of two 8" round cake pans. Mix all of the cake ingredients in a large bowl and divide batter evenly between the two pans. 2. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes back with just a few crumbs (no gooey batter), 40 to 45 minutes. Set aside to cool. 3. Make the Ganache: Pour heavy cream into a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring the heavy cream to a simmer, and once you see tiny bubbles form around the edges, remove from heat and add chocolate chips, whisking until combined. Let mixture chill until it reaches a spreadable consistency, at least 20 minutes, before frosting cake. 4. Top one round cake with ganache frosting, then place the second cake on top of it. Frost the top and sides of the cake. Serve. Cake ingredients: All-purpose flour, for flouring pans 1 package Devil's Food cake mix 1 package chocolate pudding mix 1 c. plain Greek yogurt 4 eggs 1/2 c. water Frosting: 1 pt. heavy cream 24 oz. semisweet chocolate chips *Side note: If you’re wondering what Bruce looks like now, you might be pleasantly surprised.  View Now
