They do say cats have nine lives, and we're certainly glad this one survived the sixth-most destructive fire in California history. The Carr Fire started burning in late July 2018 before finally being contained August 31, 2018. Animal rescue worker Dan Evans shares the story of finding a kitten in the rubble of the wildfire, suffering from third-degree burns and needing some major assistance. Now, Vulcan, named after the Roman god of fire, is a special member of the Evans family. So cute!

Sad Cat Finally Reunites With Owner After Wildfire

We can only imagine how terrifying wildfires are for animals. They're scary enough for humans, but animals don't have the ability to evacuate on their own and care for themselves. In the process, many of them are often separated from their families in times of disaster. Many wonderful organizations like the FieldHaven Feline Center have stepped in to reunite pets with their owners, just like cat Annie. While in the shelter, Annie (a male cat) was very quiet and withdrawn, but as soon as he heard his owner's voice, he perked right up and came out of his carrier. View Now

Over a month since the deadly wildfires began in northern and southern California, reunions are still happening. This one is especially touching! Bill and Andrea Gaylord were just recently able to return to what was left of their home in Paradise when they witnessed an amazing miracle. They came face to face with dog Madison guarding what was left of the home. He had been missing since the Camp Fire, and although the family believed the Anatolian shepherd was alive, they weren't exactly sure. Madison's brother Miguel had already been rescued and was being cared for by animal rescue volunteer Shayla Sullivan. Sullivan had been leaving water and food at the site in the hopes that Madison would find it. Not only did Madison reunite with his parents, but he was also able to finally see Miguel again. Absolutely adorable! Now happily reunited, the two guard the land together. Videos and photos via Shayla Sullivan View Now
Injured Stray Dog Rescued And Adopted All In One Day!

Injured Stray Dog Rescued And Adopted All In One Day!

It's an incredible story — an injured stray dog is rescued by a biker, brought to an animal emergency center and promptly adopted into a loving home. It all started when Jarrett Little noticed a stray dog injured with a broken hind leg and toe. After giving the 5-month-old Great Dane mix some snacks and water, Little drove 7 miles with the dog on his back to get medical help in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The entire tale really is based on impeccable timing mixed with a little bit of fate! Little usually rides with a faster group that flies by the area where the pooch was found, but this time he was going a bit slower on his mountain bike. Also, at the same time as Little made it back, Andrea Shaw happened to be walking by while in town on business from Maine.  “She walked by the instant we pulled up,” Little said. “Had I been five minutes later or five minutes earlier they might not have crossed paths," he told the Ledger-Enquirer.  Both Andrea and the dog were immediately taken by each other, and she called her husband to let him know they were getting another pet. Now nicknamed Columbo to represent the city he was found in, the pup had surgery and then started off on a journey to Maine. Since arriving, Columbo has had no problem adjusting to his new life! Here's hoping Columbo has a speedy recovery! View Now
