This video from Amsterdam, Netherlands has been creating waves of controversy across the Internet. A woman traveling with South African artist Zanele Muholi was aggressively forced down the stairs by a landlord of an Airbnb causing her to take a nasty tumble. The supposed cause for the landlord's frustration is due to the guests' late checkout. The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for bruises and injuries to her back. The suspect has been taken into custody and it is unclear what charges he will face.
Airbnb Director of Diversity, David King gave the statement: "Appalling and unconscionable behavior against members of our community runs counter to everything Airbnb stands for. Our CEO Brian Chesky and I are reaching out to the affected guests. We will take the strongest actions we can against such abhorrent conduct, including banning people for life from our platform and assisting law enforcement with their investigation and potential prosecution. Nobody should ever be treated like this and it will not be tolerated."
