It was the explosion seen 'round the world. A meteor exploded over Russia, injuring 571 people and sending 34 to the hospital. But what caused this phenomenon to happen? NASA has spent the past two weeks making progress in understanding the origin and make-up of the unexpected space rock, and they shared their findings in this week's ScienceCast.

A horrifying scene in Krasnoyarsk, Russia was recently caught on camera. A boiling geyser erupted, which caused steaming water to flow into a bus, after the vehicle hit a pipe that initiated the burst. The driver of the bus was immediately burned by the steaming water and rushed out of the vehicle without opening any other doors, so the passengers were trapped inside. The passengers were eventually able to get out of the bus, but 11 people were injured. Seven passengers were hospitalized and two women are currently in serious condition. View Now

Another Meteor Explodes Over Russia

Similar to the meteor explosion seen over Russia last year, another object went streaking through the night sky in Murmansk around 2:00 a.m., although it does not seem to have shaken things up nearly as much as last time. It has not been officially confirmed as a meteorite, however, and some say it may have been space debris reentering the Earth's atmosphere. View Now

Fisherman Gets Robbed by Killer Whale Impersonator

While out fishing on the Hawaii coast, one fisherman caught himself a beautiful mahimahi fish. But he had also seen glimpses of what looked like a killer whale nearby, so he started reeling his fish in with caution. His caution did him no good, however, as the sea beast leapt and took the precious mahimahi. It turned out that it wasn't a killer whale, but a type of dolphin known as a false killer whale.
